Twitch & Discord Emotes

Graphic Design

Tool(s): Adobe Illustrator

Development Time:
2-4 hours each

Role: Graphic Designer

Clients: Jenna Porreca, Jeremy Cano, Justin T., Rene D., Patrick Hutchison

Challenge:

For these projects, I worked as a freelance graphic designer with Twitch affiliate streamers. I was contracted to create between one and three custom "emotes" for each client (small icons that paid subscribers can use in the Twitch chat box). The challenge was to create emotes that captured their brand identity, aesthetic, and encouraged viewers to subscribe and participate in the live chat. The emotes were later incorporated to Discord servers, where I was also commissioned to create additional Discord emojis.

Solution:

I communicated frequently with each client to determine their individual ideas and needs. I created multiple iterations based on feedback until we landed on graphics that were appropriate for their brands and worked effectively with both the Twitch emote system and Discord emoji system.

Results:

Each client reported subscriber increases and increased chat box participation due to the implementation of their custom emotes. Jenna Porreca and Jeremy Cano reported a 200% increase in Twitch subscriber count in the first month they implemented their custom emotes.
